Nottingham General Cemetary, 15th april

Had a wander through the local cemetary on my way back from uni on thursday. Heard the usual green woodpecker that i always hear when i'm there. never see it though!

There were a few flowers popping up around the place however.

Early Dog Violet
















A sedge, Heath Woodrush
















Lots of Cowslips























and this radiate-form Groundsel























and Common Sorrel coming into flower

Bilberries

These bilberries were coming into flower on the woodland floor at sherwood forest

Clifton, April 8th

A nice sunny walk in clifton provided a few new wildflowers for the year.

There were the usual red dead nettles, lesser celandines, and other planted flowers.
















There was also white dead nettle in flower























A new one for me - Ground Ivy

















Bluebells just coming into flower

















I think this may be Marsh marigold - DOH! no its just lesser celandine!

Leeds Butterburs

My friend lives behind Meanwood Urban Farm in Leeds. Had a walk around the area on wednesday last week, and bumped into a good few of these plants, which i originally didn't have a clue about. Upon getting home i looked in my books and realised that they were Butterbur, a wildflower that i've never chanced upon before.

Garden flowers

Some weeds/wildflowers are beginning to pop up around the garden. There's loads of dandelion and greater celandine waiting to flower, as well as some other common weeds, but in my oak tree plantpot, i thought the Ivy-leaved Toadflax which has been growing there for some years has flowered again, but its appeared with with much darker flowers than before as its actually what i think is Early Dog-Violet.
















Also what i beleive to be Shining Cranesbill is coming up in various pots, taking over a bit, but not flowering yet

Attenborough - Easter Sunday (4th April)

Had an evening walk around attenbrough as the sun was shining, this is what i saw

Wavy Bittercress, which i've seen round and about

















Some more Sweet Violet, white variety this time
































Plenty of Lesser Celandine flowering on the banks of the Trent
















Lots of Ivy-leaved speedwell growing under the hedges near the cricket field

Colwick Park - 1st april 2010

There were a lot of celandines in flower around colwick today, even though i've seen them around and about already i haven't been able to photograph it, either as its been out of reach or that the flowers have been closed, but i managed to get some shots today!































Also saw this garden escape, unsure of the species though it is a flowering currant - Ribes sp.
















More coltsfoot was in flower today, beginning to get its green leaves.
